New cap

It's time for a new baseball cap, my old one is battle-scarred and faded, some things just have to be renewed.

Repair of my favourite pen

I have had a Parker 65 fountain pen since the 60s and alas the connecting threaded part which joins the two pen halves had disintegrated which meant the pen would not stay together therefore being unable to be used. Spent a lot of time searching for a replacement part without luck. A bit more digging and found a brass replacement part which I have now fitted. Also lost the chrome trim ring which fits between the two pen body halves, so have ordered a new on. Hopefully the pen will be functional once more when I get some ink cartridges for it.

Annual Boiler service

Probably the best Gas boiler I have bought, the Worcester Bosch Greenstar. We had it fitted a few years back with the magnetic water filter as an extra. The plumber was here to service it today, and I was impressed with the filter efficiency, hardly any black iron sludge at all this year and adds to the clean water in the system preventing component failure.

Repeat Prescriptions

Got the bus down town to Boots the Chemists to collect my monthly prescription"Sorry sir, we have not got them", You will have to get in touch with your doctor, you may have to have a script revision or such like.

Got home and eventually managed to get through to the Doctors on the phone, it appears that the chemists never ordered my prescription from my last visit. I look forward to visiting the Chemists tomorrow, pure incompetence on their part.

Additional items required to complete my scroll saw setup, a stool and some tubes to store my saw blades in. Will have to look at making a wooden rack for the tubes at some stage.

Scroll saw

I got this saw for my birthday last year and have not done much with it since. With the colder weather coming on it is time to look at doing some projects for Christmas, plenty on YouTube to get some inspiration from. I have ordered some blades to make a start, and we will see what ideas I can start with.

Opti Myst Electric fire

Had to put this fire on last week, just to take the chill off the room. It has a water reservoir that creates the smoke effect, and thought I would check the tank level. It needed filling up, so lifted out the tank, unscrewed the lid only to find that one of the sealing washer had perished. Managed to find replacement washers on the Dimplex site, so have ordered 2 and one to keep as a spare.

Washers arrived today, great quality too, fitted and working fine, job done

Sparrow hawk

Was about to go out the back door to put some bird feed on the table, quite surprised to see a sparrowhawk finishing off its lunch. Have been wondering why there were not many birds around lately. We have had a pheasant, ducks, and many others visit, but this is a first. Poor blackbird.

Overgrown Tree

On the 6th August I reported to Lincoln County Council that the birch tree outside is overgrown and apart from falling branches being a problem, it also is a playground for pigeons, crows and many other flying rats, leaving droppings on the footpath. Am still waiting on an update on progress of the complaint.

Emailed the LCC for an update, guess what?  No action required to the tree problem.

Hedge cutting

Finished the annual hedge cutting chore, this pic only shows less than a third of the length. I spread the job over 2 days.

Garage Lighting

My garage lighting has been pretty poor with an old tube light, my son put me on to the new LED garage lights, and yesterday he came round and fitted this one for me. Just like daylight in the garage now. Good that winter is not far away and time spent in there is more frequent.
